Happy Birthday Mom

I was going to share another christmas card with you today, but then remembered I should share this one with you.  It is my mom's birthday today.  Happy birthday MOM!!!

The DSP is actually retired from Stampin' Up!, but these are her favorite colors and I love this paper too.  Behind the image, I stamped French Script in Blush Blossom and sponged the edges with Old Olive.  The little bird was stamped with Taken With Teal and clear embossed, glitter in the swirls and I used dimensionals on both the image and the sentiment.  Some little paper flowers with stickles in the center finish off the branch.  I actually love how this turned out. The bird is from Inkadinkado.

I'm off to get busy - gotta pick up my daughter soon.  I'll have to show you her wall hanging she is making.  It is so pretty and the colors happen to be what her room is done in.  She's doing a great job.

Princess bank

Thanks for stopping by today.  I spent part of my day with a family emergency.  I learned that my favorite uncle (and the one I am closest to) had a heart attack last night.  He is still in the hospital, was having more chest pains this morning, but if all goes well, will be home in a few days.  He is getting some tests done and some other technical stuff (terms I can't remember) over the next few days.  He was always there for us to talk to when my Mother was in the hospital just before and after she passed away. He tried to make the situation easier, visit us, stay with us if that's what we needed - just being there to talk to.  He always was available for that.  And still is.  I'm not a religious person, but my friends and family, please say a prayer for him that he gets through all this and is stronger.  He despises (spelling?) hospitals so it is really tough for him. 

I want to share an altered project that I did for a birthday present for my daughters' friend.  Her favorite color is purple. (sorry it is a little blurry)

I got this piggy bank last year at M's.  Wasn't sure what I was going to do with it, but decided to alter it with DSP for a birthday gift. 

I tried to color the image with my Copics.  Not as good as I hoped since I'm still learning the shading technique:)

I used Modge Podge to adhere the DSP that I had in my stash to the entire piggy bank except the bottom front panel where I put her name and the very top points of the crown where I stuck rhinestones. 

If you look closely, you can see the slit on the top centre where you drop the coins in.

All in all, I like it.  She liked it too.  I have another one to do now for my daughter, but she doesn't know. Just have to find the perfect DSP.  Her room is Kiwi green, turquoise with pinks and purples. At least I have lots of colors to choose from:)

The Bird Has a Song

Hello - the start of a new week.  I hope to get lots done this week if all goes well.  My To-do list is planned and ready:)

I made some Frameable Quotes for the May Days craft fair.  They are made from chipboard coasters and I just die cut a frame opening and layered using designer paper and embellishments.  The cool thing is they can be fridge magnets or sit up on a easel-type back on a desk or fireplace, etc.

The bird die cut and branches are from Stampin' Up!  The DSP is as well but retired.  Here is a side close up:

They were fun to do and I'm working on some more for September.

Mom's day cards

See I came back and happy you did too.

I got some good news yesterday when picking my daughter up from school.  They told me as well as some sent emails that they were very impressed with the craft fair last week and have given me the thumbs up to do it again with their full support.  I was thrilled to hear that, especially with all the negativity from some of the crafters.  I also got some emails thanking me for all the hard work and long hours I put in.  I guess some of them actually realize what it takes.  I may consider doing another in November/December just in time for Christmas.  There is another one I go in at the end of November at a different elementary school so I will have to plan around that.

Ok, so on to my card.  I have been making some Mothers' Day cards for orders.  Here is one:

It kind of looks a little blurry to me.  This is one of the same layouts in the OSW class I just did.  I wanted to use up some scraps from the class.  Not one of my favorites but I love the colors.

This next one I really like.  It is the same one the kids did in their altered frames class.  A matching card to go with the frame. They used the same Designer paper on their cards as they did on their frames.  I really like these felt flowers from Stampin' Up!  I didn't at first, but now that I've tried them, I love them.  This is also one of my favorite color combos - Pretty in Pink and Old Olive (or Kiwi Kiss).

OSW

What a busy weekend! It went way tooo fast.  Between getting ready for the craft fair, the kids, soccer, and shopping, that took up my whole weekend and I don't feel like I accomplished a whole lot.  Can't wait til next weekend.  Bustin' my butt for the next couple of weeks now:)  I got tons of projects cut out and ready to sew up. 
I found this template to use for a OSW (one sheet wonder) class.  The gals have been waiting for this class so I had to get my version completed this weekend.  Takes a bit of time when your mojo isn't 100%.  Plus the fact, that I don't like my cards too plain so I had to add a little bit more to each card.  Overall, I think it turned out great.  Some of the cards I like more than others, but it makes a beautiful set of boxed cards for a gift or better yet, Mothers' Day.

I used the Cottage Wall designer paper from Stampin' Up!.  Most of the embellishments are also from SU.  I even pulled out some punches I haven't used in a while and look at the bottom left corner. I used one of my Pretties flowers and the leaves are from the Bird punch in the Occasions mini. I used various sentiments including the new ones from the Occasion mini.  Love that font!  The colors are Orchid Opulence, Old Olive, Pale Plum, Rich Razzleberry and Whisper White.

Flowers for MOM

I wanted to show you another card we did at our stamp class.  This is one of my favorite color combos.  I also tried to keep it "clean" which I'm not normally very good at.  I tend to want to keep adding.  I do love how it turned out though. 

We used one of my favorite sets Friends 24-7 and for the sentiment is one of the new sets called Well Scripted. They are available in wood mounted or acrylic. The girls were excited about the new fonts. The colors used were Old Olive, Whisper white and Taken with teal. The Designer paper is from the new series called Sweet Pea. I really love these papers. A larger size than what SU usually does and such an awesome variety of designs in this Designer paper stack. The punch down the side is the Scallop Trim border punch that was in the Sale-a-Bration mini. Both the designer paper and the Well Scripted are available in the Occasions mini until the end of April, as well as some other punches that you will love. I really hope that they all make it into the new catalogue.

Altered frames

Happy hump day!  It's already Wednesday which means we are closer to the weekend.  I can't wait.  I've been resting up and finally got rid of my headache that I had for 3½ days.  I kept waking up with it and it just wouldn't go away.  Still fighting the cough part though and so is my daughter.  We will just have to hang at home this weekend and rest up - I don't mind at all.

So I wanted to show you some altered frames and shadow boxes that I did.  Some were Christmas gifts and some I just put together.  I really love reading quotes and poetry, and using them in frames for special gifts.  Simple, easy to do but displays a beautiful message.

This first one is in my daughters room.  I just love the words and had to do it for her room.

I love the saying in this one too about hope and dreaming.

This heart-shaped one is for my very special MIL.  I just love the DSP on this frame and the colors.  Could be easily altered for a Valentine's gift.

This poem was sent to me by a very sweet angel.  It is one of her favorite poems so I put it into this frame and sent it to her. 







These next few are shadow boxes.  I just love how they look.  I wasn't sure how to alter a shadow box before until I wanted to try something different for a gift.  I was hooked after the first one.  The first two are the same but with different colors of roses.  Most of the wordings are printed on DSP with my printer.  A couple of them are stamps.  I'm always looking for great sayings on stamps because they are so perfect for this type of gift or even the front of an address book.

A closeup of the vellum butterfly.  Can you see the pretty glitter?  You should see it in the sunshine!  Looks so awesome.  Very pretty.
So there you have it.  I wanted to share something since it has been a few days since I have been here.  I will be working with some new SU products that I received.  I love it all and can't wait to try the new unmounted stamps and new punches.
