Finally Settling In

Happy Sunday everyone!

I have been avoiding posting on here for a while but one of my goals for this year is to post way more than I have been. 

A lot of changes with our big move to the Kootenay's and we are all settling in.  Working full time now for our business is great although it takes away a lot of my creating/posting/me time.  I am still trying to get a routine in place for all this.  And I have a much smaller area/room right now for sewing/crafting, but plan on that changing in the very near future as well.  I have lots of plans for growth this year......................now to make it all happen.

So today I wanted to share with you a jacket I made a few months back and I dont' think I ever showed you.  Its an Aviator Jacket.

If you click on the photos, you will get a bigger view.  This is made with leather bonded with sherpa.  Its size is a 24 months. It is loose fitting too.  

I embroidered aviation wings on the sleeve.

 Added a patch to the front chest.  Here is the inside sherpa - very cozy

And a matching hat to complete the set.  

I have done several of these a few years ago and they were very popular.

This one will be loaded to my Etsy store - another one of my To-Do-better items.  I intend to load Etsy and keep it loaded again.  Been slacking there big time!

I have a few custom orders to take care of :)  A couple of Ipad covers which I will share with you tomorrow.  Another is a new Baby Boy gift basket filled with all handmade items from me.  A girlfriend of mine that I haven't seen or talked to in about 25-30 years, found me and my Facebook page a few months back. And now she has given me a custom order!!  I am stoked - I am making everything of course, personalized and she is letting me decide what is going in it.  Love it!!

Well I better get busy digging out some of my designs and patterns. She doesnt' need it til May but I want to have plenty of time to plan and get it done, and to her by the end of April.  I will be sure to show you along the way what I fill it with.

YES, I have returned!!

Yes, I have returned!  It has been way too long and lots has been happening.  Without getting into all the details, let's just say, there has been family issues, tragedies, losses, health issues, employment changes.......and I think that is it LOL.  Not all bad; in fact, some really good changes and more to come. 

So, did you see my new profile picture?  That's my new logo.  Still need to get my banner done for my blog, but need my son's help for that.  I love it, especially the colors.  I had new business cards done, bio cards, sewing labels and still working on more stuff.  This is my year to succeed!  I'm going to make it happen - taking my "business" a lot more serious and treat it like an actual business per se. I've been doing some advertising, trying to update FB more often, and I now have a friend on board with me too, who is very talented :)  Together we will make it grow because we both want to succeed.

We just finished prepping for the Woman's Fair.  It was yesterday at the Capri Centre Mall and over 500 women went through.  There were lots of vendors, door prizes and gift baskets.  We put in two gift baskets:

The Eye of the Tiger tote has been really popular and is so eye-catching.  So we decided to do this with the tiger theme in the accessories as well.

The Made for a Princess basket is sooo cute ~ the 3 pc halter dress with matching hat and panties is awesome in orange batik and textured! Again, the items in this basket are all made in a princess theme for a little girl.

I am hoping they sold lots of tickets! We would love to know who won too! ETA: Just found out that we raised over $500 with tickets being sold by donation.  How cool is that!

Kimono dress

Hi!!  Hope you don't mind that I want to share another little outfit.  It is also from the Amy Butler Little Stitches for Little Ones book.  I love the patterns in this book.  Here it is on display at the quilt shoppe.  I'm not normally one to choose greens of this shade especially, but I love the print on this fabric. Clik on it to get a closer look.

 The little colored flowers pop and I think are perfect for this one.  A close up of the front shows the detail collar and bow.

And here on the back you can see the button closure.  Doesn't show well but it is a little silver impressed button.  You can clik on it and maybe see the closeup.

So what do you think?  A perfect little dress for the summer.  And there are lots more projects that I want to try from this awesome book!  Outfits and accessories galore for baby.

Kimono with Koi

So I am here to show you a little Amy Butler kimono I did for the quilt shoppe.  Here it is on display at the store.  Do you see what is missing that was mentioned in the title today?  You will see it in the following photos.  You can clik the photos to get the full view.

Here it is on the inside with the side tie undone.  The little pants actually look like shorts they way they are displayed on this hanger.

Here is a better photo where you can see the pants.  Cute huh??

See? I decided to take it back home and add some embroidery to the front.  I thought this little koi was perfect.  It looked so perfect on there.  

Here he is real close.  Bubbles and all.  LOL.  This was a real fun outfit to put together and I am definitely going to do some more of these for my next event in a few months.  This outfit can also be done with shorts and short sleeve wrap.  Super cute for those warmer months.    I need to start building up stock and I want to have lots to show and no last minute rushes.

Gotta get my butt in gear.  Shaelyn and I are going to be doing some running around today and maybe looking at some more new fabrics:)   It's supposed to be sunny and warm in the pluses:) yeah!!

Snowflake bear

So with the snowfall we had a couple of days ago, more like a blizzard without the wind, my project is totally suitable for this time of year.

Bunting bags are perfect to keep baby warm when it is cold and nasty outside.  Little hands stay warm and covers can be folded back as well. Unzip easily while indoors and keeps them cozy with lots of movement too. 

This one is for a baby girl that is about 18-21 lbs and 27-28" in length. It's a size Medium. The fleece print is pink with baby blue snowflakes and white polar bear cubs on it.  So here is the embroidery design I chose to add and I think is perfect for this:

Isn't she adorable.  I thought it totally suited the print and had to use it.

Getting Back to Normal

Hi everyone
My daughter is finally home and resting.  She tires easily and naps often, but home and on the road to recovery.  Now trying to get life back to a norm. First day of school today too - thankfully only ½ a day.

I haven't had time to do any cards yet, but I want to share with you a Wonder Onesie that was for a customer the week before Shaelyn was in the hospital.  It is sooo cute and I love the colors.  For boy or girl, she chose yellow and blue plaid and little duckies for the lining.

Perfect for boy or girl.  And here is the closeup of the lining:

A closeup of the adorable embroidery bunny that was appliqued with some fuzzy fabric for the face.  Isn't it cute huh?

The whole set.  I just love this and think it is perfect.

Little Miss Sunshine

Isn't this adorable?!  I had so much fun making this little set.  It is sized 6-12 months and is 3 pieces - sun bonnet, dress and bloomers.  Three different cotton prints were used and of course, Texture Magic where you can see I used it on this beautiful hibiscus bag. 

This is a closeup of the halter top part that was textured.  See the stitching I used?  A built-in with little flowers to show off once it shrinks.

Here is the back - fully lined and has elastic around the back to keep in place.  A closeup:

This is actually the back, but I wanted you to see the bow and the texture.  I used the same built-in stitch.

And here it is all together.  Sorry about the coloring - not sure why it is like that.  You can see the overall prints though - adorable!  Wish my daughter was this small sometimes so she can model it for me:)  My husband just shakes his head - LOL.  He said the closest I will get is making the baby clothes so stop wishing.  Guess I will have to just get a mannequin.

Does this diaper make my butt look big????

I just love that saying.............so cute.  Which leads me to my next baby/infant outfit I finished a few days ago.  This is the 2 pieces of a 3 piece set.

Hard to tell in the picture, but it is a skort and tank top.  This one is 12 months size.  This is the skort close-up - maybe you can see the two little pockets on the front.

And the tank top.  The embroidery was done on a piece of cotton then I cut it with a die in my Big Shot.  I didn't like how the design and especially the wording were turning out on the small rib (nap) of the tank top, so I opted to do it this way.  I think it still works although I would have rather it be right on the tank top.

I satin stitched around the edge of the embroidery panel piece with embroidery thread.  Hard to see, but here is a close up of the design.

Sweet huh?? I just love these cute sayings.  And I have more of them to use so you'll have to come back and see.  And lastly, the third piece of the outfit is the visor.

Yes it is a little different than my last one here but I wanted the visor part to shade the child's face really well.  It is totally adjustable the same way with velcro and a d-ring. 

So tell me what you think.  I had a lot of fun doing this one.  I love doing baby outfits and using spring/summer fabrics and of course, the embroidery is a bonus for me!!

Tinkerbell onesie

Today, is supposed to be a beautiful day again after having a couple of "ucky" days of cold blowing winds and rain.  We needed the rain for sure, but not the wind.  We had another big fire break out threatening homes and they had to evacuate 30 some residents.  As of last night, it was contained, they did lose one house to the fire and no one got injured.  Almost a year ago today, we went through this same situation.

Today I am showing you another onesie, this time made out of some adorable Tinkerbell fabric.  It is sooo cute.  Bright and summery.
And to go along with this one, rather than a beach cap or visor, I did a headband using the lining fabric.

Tomorrow I will show you what my daughter was sewing up for her girlfriend's birthday party.  From what I understand, she loved it and even her mom had tears when she opened her gifts.  That makes me happy.

OK, off to my sewing room.  I received a call from  a lady that needs some scrappy sacs.  Haven't done any of those since they sold out at May Days:)  Been hooked on baby stuff LOL.

In the Pink

We are surviving the heat wave!!  Mostly staying indoors and only going out in the evening.  It was soooo hot yesterday and muggy.
I was going to post another wedding card today but a friend emailed and ask about some of the Wonder onesies I've been showing.  She wants a girl and a boy onesie so I would like to show you a girly Wonder onesie today so she can see it..

This one is adorable too.  It is pink with little ducks, bears and lambs with umbrellas.  I love the print on this one.  And to go with this one, rather than a beach cap, I decided to keep it sporty and do a visor instead.

I couldn't find my pattern I used to have for these so I had to wing it.  The strap is fully adjustable with velcro and the inside front of the visor is lined with a soft terry-type fabric for baby's skin.  I think it turned out pretty cute considering it was all from memory from a few years ago:)  One of the few things I didn't forget with old age LOL.
